10 Things to Do in Toronto This Spring

Spring in Toronto is my favorite time of year. After months of bundling up in layers and avoiding the outdoors as much as possible, the city finally wakes up again. The parks turn green, cherry blossoms bloom, patios reopen, and there’s this feeling of excitement in the air. Every time spring rolls around, I find myself making a list of all the things I want to do before summer arrives. If you’re looking for ways to enjoy the season, here are 10 things I absolutely love doing in Toronto in the spring!

1. See the Cherry Blossoms at High Park

The moment the cherry blossoms bloom, High Park becomes the place to be. It’s like nature’s way of celebrating winter finally being over. The pink and white blossoms create a stunning canopy, and honestly, it feels a little magical walking under them. The only catch? Everyone else in Toronto has the same idea.

📍 High Park
📅 Late April – Early May
💰 Free

My tip: If you want that peaceful, picture-perfect moment, go early in the morning before the crowds arrive. If High Park is too busy, Trinity Bellwoods Park and Robarts Library (U of T) also have some beautiful cherry blossoms without the overwhelming crowds.

2. Explore the Toronto Islands

The first warm weekend of the season, I always take a trip to the Toronto Islands. It’s such a peaceful escape from the city, but at the same time, it gives you the best view of the skyline. I love renting a bike and riding around, stopping to sit by the water or have a picnic.

📍 Toronto Islands (Ferry from Jack Layton Ferry Terminal)
💰 $9.11 round trip for adults

My tip: If you don’t like crowds, take the first ferry of the day. It’s so peaceful in the morning, and you feel like you have the whole place to yourself.

3. Wander Through Kensington Market on Pedestrian Sundays

Kensington Market is always a vibe, but in the spring, it’s even better. Pedestrian Sundays turn the streets into a festival of live music, street performers, and food vendors. There’s something happening on every corner—one minute you’re listening to a local band, and the next, you’re watching someone paint a mural.

📍 Kensington Market
📅 Last Sunday of each month (May – October)
💰 Free

My tip: Get the churros from Pancho’s Bakery or try a taco from Seven Lives. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

4. Visit the Toronto Flower Market

If you love flowers, the Toronto Flower Market is a must. It’s filled with locally grown blooms, and I love picking up a bouquet for my apartment. Even if you don’t buy anything, it’s a great place to wander through and soak in the colors and scents of spring.

📍 College Park (Yonge & College)
📅 Once a month (May – October)
💰 Free to enter

My tip: Bring cash and a tote bag if you’re planning to bring home some fresh flowers.

5. Walk or Bike the Don Valley Trails

One of my favorite things about Toronto is how much nature there is within the city. The Don Valley Trails are perfect for a long walk, a jog, or a bike ride. In the spring, everything is green and fresh, and you forget you’re even in a city.

📍 Don Valley Trails (Start at Evergreen Brick Works)
💰 Free

My tip: Grab a coffee from Café Belong at Evergreen Brick Works before your walk—it makes the experience even better.

6. Visit the Distillery District Spring Market

The Distillery District is already one of the most charming parts of Toronto, but it becomes even better in the spring with the Spring Market. There are pop-up vendors, fresh flowers everywhere, and patios filled with people enjoying the sunshine.

📍 Distillery District (Mill St. & Parliament St.)
📅 April – Early May
💰 Free entry

My tip: Get a coffee from Balzac’s Coffee Roasters, then spend some time wandering the cobblestone streets.

7. Explore St. Lawrence Market

I could spend hours at St. Lawrence Market in any season, but spring is the best time to visit. The market is filled with fresh produce, bakeries, and some of the best sandwiches in the city.

📍 93 Front St E
📅 Open Tuesday – Saturday
💰 Free entry

My tip: Try the peameal bacon sandwich from Carousel Bakery – it’s a Toronto classic for a reason.

8. Catch a Blue Jays Game at Rogers Centre

Even if you’re not a huge baseball fan, there’s something about watching a Blue Jays game in the spring that just feels right. Sitting in the stands, eating a hot dog, and soaking up the atmosphere – it’s a fun night out whether the Jays win or lose.

📍 Rogers Centre (1 Blue Jays Way)
💰 Tickets start at ~$20

My tip: Go on Tuesday for $1 hot dogs. It’s one of the best budget-friendly nights out in the city.

9. Visit Allan Gardens Conservatory

On rainy spring days, Allan Gardens Conservatory is one of my favorite places to escape to. It’s filled with tropical plants, cacti, and beautiful floral displays. It’s warm, quiet, and a great place to slow down for a bit.

📍 160 Gerrard St E
💰 Free

My tip: This place is a hidden gem for photography lovers—bring your camera!

10. See the Cherry Blossoms at Trinity Bellwoods Park

If High Park is too crowdedTrinity Bellwoods Park is the next best thing for cherry blossoms. It’s also just a great place to sit on the grass, people-watch, or have a picnic with friends.

📍 Trinity Bellwoods Park (Queen St W & Strachan Ave)
💰 Free

My tip: Stop by White Squirrel Coffee Shop before heading into the park—it’s one of my favorite coffee spots in the city.

Spring in Toronto is one of the best times to explore the city. Whether it’s taking in the cherry blossoms, visiting a market, or biking by the water, there’s something special about the energy in the air. I always feel like I have a renewed excitement for getting outside and making the most of it.

If you’re in Toronto this spring, which of these are you planning to do first? Let me know in the comments!
