If you’re searching for Hotels near BMO Field Toronto, you’re probably getting ready for an unforgettable FIFA World Cup experience. I’ve spent a lot of time in Toronto over the years, and the city in summer is something else. The waterfront is buzzing, the patios are packed, and the energy is everywhere. Now imagine that atmosphere during the World Cup, with fans from every country, flags on every corner, and the whole city completely taken over by football. I genuinely cannot wait!

Toronto Stadium at Exhibition Place is hosting six matches between June 12 and July 2, 2026, including the first-ever men’s FIFA World Cup™ match on Canadian soil, featuring Canada’s Men’s National Team. It’s going to be one for the books.

The stadium is at Exhibition Place, which is west of downtown, and where you stay makes a real difference for how easy match days are going to be. I’ve put this guide together to help you figure out exactly where to base yourself, whether you want to be a five-minute walk from the gates or you’re happy to hop on the GO Train or the TTC/ Street cars and save some money on accommodation.

This guide focuses on Hotels near BMO Field Toronto and the best areas to stay for the FIFA World Cup 2026. You can also check out my general guide on where to stay in Toronto for a broader overview.

Where is BMO Field Toronto

BMO Field sits at Exhibition Place, just west of downtown along Lake Ontario. It’s not slap-bang in the city centre, which means a bit of planning goes a long way. The 509 and 511 streetcars run directly there from downtown, and there’s a GO Train station called Exhibition GO right on the grounds. Rideshares work fine getting there, just expect things to get chaotic after the final whistle.

Hotels Near BMO Field Toronto – Closest to Toronto Stadium (Under 3 Miles)

If you want match day to feel as easy as possible, these are the ones to look at first.

Hotel X Toronto

111 Princes’ Blvd, Exhibition Place  |  Distance to Stadium: Under 5-minute walk

This one is the obvious pick if you’re all-in on the World Cup experience. Hotel X is literally inside Exhibition Place, so you are a short stroll from the stadium gates. The hotel itself is genuinely impressive too: heated pool, spa, rooftop bar, multiple restaurants, and rooms with Lake Ontario views. Reviews are consistently great. It is going to sell out fast, so if this is the move, do not wait.

Toronto Marriott City Centre

1 Blue Jays Way  |  Distance to Stadium: 2 miles

Sitting inside Rogers Centre right in the heart of downtown, this one puts you in the thick of the city while still being very close to the stadium. King West and the Entertainment District are right on your doorstep, which means great options for pre-match drinks and post-match food. It’s about 38mins walk and a 29mins ride using either the 509 / 510/ 511 streetcars.

Novotel Toronto Centre

45 The Esplanade  |  Distance to Stadium: 3 miles

Great spot near the waterfront and St. Lawrence Market. The Esplanade area has a good mix of restaurants and bars, and getting to the stadium from here by streetcar is quick and easy. A good all-round option that does not break the bank compared to some of the others on this list. It’s about 23mins if you used the GO (from Union to Exhibition) or 31mins using the 509 streetcar.

Hotels Near BMO Field Toronto – Closest to Union Station

Staying near Union Station is one of the smartest options for the FIFA World Cup. It’s the main transit hub in Toronto, which means getting to BMO Field at Exhibition Place is quick and easy. You can hop on the GO Train or take the TTC streetcar and be at the stadium in around 10–15 minutes.

Beyond match day convenience, this area puts you right in the heart of downtown Toronto. You’ll be close to the waterfront, major attractions, restaurants, and nightlife, so there’s always something to do before or after the game. It’s a great balance between accessibility and atmosphere, especially if you want the full World Cup city experience without needing to stay right next to the stadium.

Best Hotels Near Union Station

Here are some of the best Hotels near BMO Field Toronto if you base yourself around Union Station:

Mid-Range to Upscale Hotels: 4 to 6 Miles from the Stadium

A short streetcar or rideshare ride away, and right in the middle of the best parts of Toronto.

Courtyard Toronto Downtown

475 Yonge Street  |  Distance to Stadium: 6 miles

On Yonge Street with easy subway access, this is a good base if you want to be central and have flexibility to explore the city properly between matches. The 6-mile distance to the stadium means you need to factor in travel time on match days, but it’s very doable.

Yorkville Royal Sonesta

220 Bloor Street West  |  Distance to Stadium: 4 miles

Yorkville is one of the nicest neighbourhoods in Toronto, great shopping, great food, and a much quieter vibe than King West. The Royal Sonesta is a polished hotel that suits fans who want to enjoy the city properly and not just live in the match-day bubble. Standard Rooms and Executive Suites available.

Kimpton Saint George Hotel

280 Bloor Street West  |  Distance to Stadium: 4 miles

Also in the Bloor-Yorkville area, the Kimpton is a boutique hotel with great service and a distinct personality. If you prefer something with a bit more character over a large chain, this is the one to look at in this part of the city.

Holiday Inn Toronto Downtown Centre

30 Carlton Street  |  Distance to Stadium: 14 miles

A decent mid-range pick in the downtown core near College Street. Good fallback option if other properties closer to the stadium are already gone. Classic, Club, and Premium room configurations available.

Near the Airport: Good for Late Arrivals or Short Trips

If you’re flying in just for a match or two and want something easy off the plane, these two are worth knowing about.

Delta Hotels Toronto Airport & Conference Centre

655 Dixon Road  |  Airport: 2 miles  |  Stadium: 13 miles

A well-equipped option right by Pearson. Not ideal as a main base given how far it is from the stadium, but if you’re landing late the night before a match and want somewhere easy and close to the airport, it does the job.

Budget Tip: Stay Along the GO Train Lakeshore West Line

This is one of the best-kept secrets for World Cup visitors and I really want more people to know about it. Toronto hotels are going to be expensive during the tournament, that’s just reality. But if you stay in one of the towns along the GO Train Lakeshore West line, you can ride directly to Exhibition GO Station, which is right at the stadium entrance.

A direct GO Train from Union Station to Exhibition GO takes about 7 minutes, with trains running every 20 – 30 minutes depending on the time. For towns further along the line the ride is a bit longer, but you’ll save a lot on accommodation and honestly the towns along Lake Ontario are lovely in summer anyway.

Places worth looking at:

  • Mimico – Closest stop west of Exhibition. Quiet lakeside community, essentially part of the city.
  • Long Branch / Port Credit – Both in Mississauga, great food scene and much cheaper than downtown. Loads of Airbnb options.
  • Oakville – A really lovely city about 30 to 40 minutes by train. Great waterfront, plenty of hotels and rentals.

Look for accommodation near the GO Station in whichever town you choose. And always double-check the GO Transit schedule for your match dates, as maintenance work can occasionally affect the Lakeshore West line.

Getting to BMO Field: Your Options

  • Streetcar (509/511): Runs directly to Exhibition Place from downtown. Gets very packed on match days, so leave earlier than you think you need to.
  • GO Train: Lakeshore West line to Exhibition GO Station, right on the stadium grounds. Best option if you’re coming from Union Station or staying along the line.
  • Rideshare (Uber/Lyft): Fine getting there. After the match, walk a few blocks away from the stadium before calling a car.
  • Walking: If you’re in King West or Liberty Village, it’s about a 15 to 20 minute walk along the waterfront and it’s a nice one.

While You’re Here: The FIFA Fan Festival

Honestly I’m just as excited about this as the actual matches. The FIFA Fan Festival™ is happening at Fort York National Historic Site and The Bentway, and it’s going to be incredible. Giant screens showing all the matches, live music, food from everywhere, and fans from all over the world in one spot. It’s free, it’s all-ages, and it is going to be the kind of atmosphere that makes you love football even more than you already do.

My Final Thoughts

Toronto in summer is already one of my favourite places to be. Add the World Cup into the mix and I think it’s going to be one of those trips people talk about for years. The city is so ready for this, and the diversity and energy that Toronto has on a normal day is going to make it one of the best host cities in the entire tournament.

Book your hotel as early as you can. Prices are going up and availability is going down. For match tickets, head to FIFA.com/tickets. For premium packages, reach out to the City of Toronto at fwc2026toronto@toronto.ca.
