Experience Thrilling Snow Tubing at Snow Valley: A Perfect Day Trip from Toronto!

There’s something magical about embracing the winter season, especially when it involves speeding down snow-covered hills at top speeds! Just a little over an hour from Toronto, Snow Valley in Barrie offers the perfect winter escape with its snow tubing experience. If you’re looking for a day filled with excitement, laughter, and snow-filled adventure, this is it.

In this post, I’ll take you through my snow tubing adventure at Snow Valley, from preparation tips to the pure joy of racing down the slopes!

Booking and Preparation: What You Need to Know

Booking your snow tubing pass is incredibly simple – you just have to do it online. Unfortunately, there’s no option to buy tickets in person, so make sure you plan ahead. Snow Valley offers a few different ticket options depending on when you’re visiting. On weekends and holidays, there’s a two-hour access pass, and if you’re visiting on a weekday, you can go for the Unlimited Tubing option, available Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM. I went on a holiday weekend and opted for the two-hour pass, which gave me more than enough time for an unforgettable experience.

Pro tip: If you do not find the actual time you want, keep checking for preferred time slots; they might become available closer to the date. As for equipment, waterproof and insulated gloves, a hat, snow boots, and layering up are essential.

What to Wear for Snow Tubing: Outfit Ideas

To make the most of your snow tubing experience, dressing appropriately is key. Here are some essential items to include in your outfit:

  • Waterproof Winter Jacket: A warm, insulated jacket that can keep you dry is essential. Look for something windproof to shield you from the chill.
  • Snow Pants or Insulated Leggings: Snow pants provide extra insulation and protect against moisture. If you prefer leggings, opt for thick, insulated ones that can keep you warm.
  • Layered Clothing: Start with moisture-wicking base layers (like thermal tops and leggings) and add fleece or wool sweaters for warmth. This layering technique allows you to adjust as needed.
  • Waterproof Gloves: Keep your hands warm and dry with insulated, waterproof gloves or mittens. Look for options with a good grip to hold onto your tube.
  • Warm Hat or Beanie: A snug hat is a must to keep your head warm, especially since a lot of body heat escapes from your head.
  • Warm Socks: Invest in thermal or wool socks to keep your feet cozy inside your snow boots.
  • Snow Boots: Waterproof and insulated snow boots will help keep your feet warm and dry while providing traction on the snow. I had just given out my snow boots before booking this spontaneous trip, and I felt it! Don’t be like me, make sure to wear proper snow boots!
  • Goggles or Sunglasses: Protect your eyes from the glare of the snow and any flying snowflakes with a pair of goggles or sunglasses.

Arriving at the Park: Smooth and Easy

One of the best things about Snow Valley is that parking is free. Yes, you read that right – free parking! This was such a pleasant surprise because we all know parking fees can sometimes take away from the experience. If you’re there just for tubing like I was, make sure to park close to the tubing area to save time.

Checking in was a breeze. Upon arrival, I simply scanned the barcode from the email confirmation, and my pass printed out instantly. You’ll use this pass to enter the tubing area and for every trip back up the hill. Keep in mind that your two-hour countdown starts the moment you scan the pass at the entrance.

The Ride to the Top: Time for Some Snowy Fun

With my snow tube in hand, I hopped onto the conveyor belt that takes you to the top of the hill. It’s a pretty relaxing ride, giving you the chance to take in the gorgeous snowy landscape as you slowly ascend. It’s also an excellent opportunity to get excited for the ride down!

The Descent: Speed, Laughter, and Adrenaline

Reaching the top of the hill, I found myself face-to-face with multiple tubing lanes, each offering its own twists and turns. I picked a lane, positioned myself in the tube, and with a gentle push, I was off! The feeling of zooming down the hill, wind rushing past my face, was pure exhilaration. The speed, the cold air, and the sheer thrill of the descent left me grinning from ear to ear. Each run down felt different, but all were equally fun.

Repeating the Thrills: You Can’t Get Enough

What makes snow tubing so addictive is how quickly you can go from one ride to the next. With every trip back up the hill, I found myself anticipating the next ride even more. Whether you’re racing friends or just soaking in the fun solo, it’s impossible not to laugh out loud as you hurtle down the slope.

Warm Up and Refuel: Après-Tubing Fun

After enjoying an exhilarating series of descents, it was time to warm up and relax. Snow Valley offers a cozy spot to sit by the fire, sip on some hot cocoa, and recount the day’s best moments with fellow tubers. You can also refuel at Snow Valley’s on-site eatery, which provides a selection of hot food and beverages. Whether you’re craving a hearty meal or a warm drink, there’s something to satisfy your appetite. It’s the perfect way to unwind, share stories with your friends, and relive the fun before heading back out for more snow tubing adventures.
